
Since 1980, Emmy nominated composer Courtney Von Drehle has worked extensively as a composer, band leader and multi-instrumentalist. He has been one of the resident composers at Do Jump, received numerous commissions for music for film scores, commercials, radio, dance, theater, and performance projects and was a 2010 Emmy nominee for his score to Academy Award nominated H.B.O. documentary “The Final Inch” (score available on itunes under “voniga”). He has received a 2003 film Composers Fellowship at the Sundance Institute and a 2010 Artists Residency at Caldera. Mr. Von Drehle co-leads the world chamber ensemble 3 LEG TORSO, performs with Klezmocracy, Dukes of the Accordion, Voniga and “Vony & Kazz”. Mr. Von Drehle has a B.A. in music from Marylhurst University and has studied North Indian classical singing.
“Vony & Kazz” is a duo dedicated to creating great music for the accordion and Melodica. Their international repertoire intersperses original compositions by award winning composer Courtney Von Drehle with the music of Argentina, France, America, Israel and Eastern Europe. Mr. Von Drehle, who also co-leads the ensemble 3 Leg Torso, plays the accordion and Kazue Suzuki performs on the melodica. Together they have performed in Oregon and Japan.
