Thomas Patterson

An award-winning staff photographer for the Statesman Journal newspaper in Salem, Oregon, since 2003, Thomas Patterson is based in Portland and available for freelance duties around the globe. He specializes in compelling editorial photography projects, wedding photojournalism and other multimedia.

A graduate of the University of Oregon with a degree in journalism, philosophy, and English, his photography, writing and video work have received national and regional awards from the Associated Press, the Society of Professional Journalists, Gannett Company, the Columbia Scholastic Press Association and the Oregon Newspaper Publishers Association.

Thomas Patterson's work has appeared in dozens of publications around the world, from The New York Times to the Seattle Times to the Glencoe High School Crimson Times, where he first developed Tri-X film. Clients for assignment work include The New York Times, USA Today, the Oregon State Bar, the Oregon Education Association, Vice Magazine, Willamette Week and the dearly departed Rocky Mountain News."
